First time on CD for this album from the Canadian Rockabilly legend. Ronnie Hawkins is a rockabilly singer who may be more famous for his backup musicians than his own music. His backup group from the early s, The Hawks, evolved into The Band. What makes this album so special is the guitarist is Duane Allman.

Oct 30,  · On the heels of the Band's breakthrough, Ronnie Hawkins seized his tangential spotlight, signing to Cotillion Records in and recording this eponymous album. Produced by Tom Dowd and Jerry Wexler, Ronnie Hawkins is pitched halfway between rockabilly and the early dawn of progressive folk-country, with the Hawk singing two songs apiece from Bob Dylan and Gordon Lightfoot.
